The loudest bus wins

Amanda and I arrived in Caracas yesterday. We checked into the Altimira hotel only to discover that our sleeping patterns are completely different, surprising considering we've shared an apartment for two years. We left the hotel at 9 am in search of an ATM that would dispense more than 250 Simon Bolivares (currently equal to approx $125 US). The value of the dollar has declined so far that we need to double our budgeted costs for food and hotels.

We took a bus from Caracas to Puerto Columbia. By all accounts a gorgeous drive, but sullied by the incredibly, incredibly loud music. Our 1970's antique American school bus was incongruously outfitted with a $4K sound system that literally made my teeth chatter.

After 21/2 white knuckled hours we arrived at Puerto Columbia, a charming, seaside fishing village. Today we're reversing our course to Caracas to find a flight to Los Roques.
